basic maintenence questions
ok, i've looked on hma and searched but I couldn't find answers to my questions
1.fuel filter, how often should I replace it, and if i'm upgradding to a Walbro 255Liter High Pressure fuel pump should I get anything special?
2.Oil, i'm using synthetic 5-50 by castrol, should I use 10-30? and what the hell is the difference between the all the numbers
3.fluids? how often should i drain/bleed/replace all the fluids. And how do I go about that? thankx!

as far oil goes heres a quick down and dirty...
the viscosity grade (5 Weight for example) tells you the oils thickness, or viscosity. the thinner the oil the lower the number will be.
multiweight oils (10W-30 for example) are actually manufactured with polymers to allow for different "weights" and different temperatures. so a 10W-30 oil will have the weight of a 10 Weight oil at a cold termerature, and will not thin more than a 30 Weight oil when at operating temperature. if im wrong im sure random, red, or onpol will swoop down and remove my useless head from my pathetic body frown

Azzy is right on about the oils.
5-50 is way overkill for a N/A Tibby motor. 5 is way too low, 50 is way too high. 10-40 would be just fine for your application.
In regards to fluid changes...
This is what I do.
oil, every 3000 miles
Coolant, every 12 months or 20,000 miles.
Brake Fluid, every 12 months or 20,000 miles
Clutch fluid, every 12 months or 20,000 miles
Power steering fluid, every 2 years or 50,000 miles.
I replace my fuel filters every 25,000 miles. Most do it every 50,000 to 75,000.
The reason I replace my fuel filter so often, is I see the crap that gets into my motorcycle fuel filter (it's clear) after just 10,000 miles...so I change my car fuel filter just a tad less often (it's about 20 times the size).

Actually the "W" in 10W-30 stands for Winter not weight. you are correct though in terms of Viscocity, the 10W means that at cold temps(i.e. Winter time) the oil has less viscocity and is thinner and a little more water-like to allow a quicker start up. I am not a tech nazi, but up until a few months ago I thought the W stood for weight too.
