Hey. I have a question about my car.

I'm experiencing a heavy lack of power. I first discovered this problem when I was driving on the interstate and my cruise control was on. I was on an incline and suddenly my car dropped in speed and began to rev up very rapidly, almost to redline before I turned off cruise.

I'm not able to press my accelerator without the engine revving up too much, so I have to release it and accelerate very slowly. Does this sound familiar at all?

Thank you.

well, knowing that it IS a 5 speed, is where my assumption came from tongue.gif

could also be a slave cylinder..

but those are the only reasons i know of why you would have to accel very slowly, otherwise rpms just go up.

Definately sounds like a clutch related issue, thats the only thing i can think of that makes sense for speed to go down and rpms to go up.

Okay. I've been told, twice, that my transmition is going out. And compliments of Patreezy, I have a clutch on-hand. How much money would you say that could cost?

Hey Man!

To get it installed it will probably cost you about 300 bucks. I think thats what it cost me to do a old escort i had when i was 16. About a year ago i installed a new clutch in my tib but did all the work myself. Its fun to do yourself if you have about six hours of extra time on your hands.

it'll save you a lot if you do it yourself. there is a DIY for it on here somewhere. just make sure you read through it before you start!
