B&M Shortshifter problem
#1
I just had B&M shortshifter installed yesterday and when in neutral, usually i can wobble the shifter from left to right, but no when i push right and let go it comes right back in the center, but when i push left, it stays stuck and doesn not come back to center. It is annoying when shifting from 2nd to 3rd, anybody have any ideas how to fix?
Thanks
Thanks

That would be my guess... because these cars are cable shifted, there is no direct mechanical connection between the shifter and the tranny... so any problems are most likely in the shifter itself.. pop the surround up and take a look... if you paid somebody to install it.. take it back to them and tell them the problem.. if they are good, they will take a look and fix it for free.

Re: gauges
Or look up the shifter schematic on Webtech and make sure the parts were all put back in the right places.

It has gotta be the return spring, like blue2000 said. Its an easy fix, not to worry.
After you get it fixed let us know how you like the B&M shifter. I am always interested in what people think of the B&M.
When I put mine in, I could only tell that is shortened the throw a tiny bit.
BTW, I see you only have 2 posts. Welcome to the site.

Thank you so much for your replies, you guys are very smart and helpful as it was exactly the return spring smile.gif I took the booth out and looked up and the shifter pin was passing underneath the left return sring. So to stop this i took out the return spring and put electrical tape around to make it thicker, then the pin doesnt go underneath anymore. I dont know how long this fix will last, but if you have any other idea how i could fix it would be appreciated. and i notice when i shift in 2nd, 4th or reverse, the shifter wobbles back a bit, i wonder if putting a few washers to make it stable would be a good idea?
And to answer your question canadianshark (im canadian too smile.gif im in ontario, anyway yeah its not a big big difference, but i can still feel that the trhows are shorter, im happy, i head a lot about Rside, i dont know if it makes throws a lot shorter than B&M...
And thanks for your welcome smile.gif
peace!
