Well I was recently in Calgary, Alberta on a trip and stopped in at an automotive store. I ended up finding the short-shifters and thought how nice it would be to have one. I did end up finding the shifters for the Tiburon made by B&M (of whome I'm told is quite reputable) for $180 CDN. Now, the problem is this.. I have a 2000 Tib... and on the box for the shifter, it said "For 2001-2002 Hyundai Tiburon"

Now is this just a f***up on B&M's behalf? I was under the assumption that there were no 2002 models, just from 2001 to 2003. Finally, it doesn't list my year ('00) but the next year up model... if I was to purchase this, would it work with my 2000? Is there a HUGE difference between the 2000 and 2001 shifters?

So there you go, enjoy!

Take a look at your base plate
if it's black, it's B&M part # 45115 which most RDTibs are 97-01
Apparently VERY LATE RD2's had the same shifter as the newer 01+ Elantras, which have the white base, and that's B&M part #45119.
But I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN RDTIB WITH A WHITE BASE

The one that you looked at should be fine, but MAKE sure its part #45115.

Yes there is a difference between the 00' and 01'+ shifters. Sorry to tell you, but you probably have the wrong one. Easiest way to look it pop off your shifter surround and have a look.
from an HP thread "the best way to find out which shifter you need is to pop up the shifter surround and look at you shifter plate. If it's black then you need the 97-00 model #45115. If is is white, then you need the other #45119."

My car is an 2001, but it was made in late 2000 and they used the older shifter in my car. When I ordered the shifter from my local shop I ordered the wrong one originally.

You can get the Rside advanced from Kspec.com. It is like the B&M but it has an adjustable height. I believe there is going to be a group buy on these later down the road.

Adjustable height? I think I'll be able to solve that with the B&M. I got an idea that I'm gonna try out as soon as I get it.

I called HP today after ordering a B&M short shifter for my 97. Melinda in CS asked me if my base matched up to the pic on their site because there's two different ones for the 97, and that they only carried one model there. Does this sound familiar to anybody for their 97's or is she clueless?

You should start a new thread about it, but she's right. Your 97 has the black base, you are fine with the 115 part #.

If your shifter has a WHITE base you use the 119 part.
