Default AOS Intake with the AEM bypass

Have anyone been able to get the bypass to fit the intake. From my search hooking up the intake isn't a problem, but getting the AEM to work with it is. I like the positioning of the intake down under the engine instead of in the fender well. So if anyone who has done it, let me know please.

I had the same problem with my AOS intake. I talked to Steven at Speedstate, and he said that the intake pipe would have to be cut. The bypass valve comes with a template for the cut. I haven't done mine yet because I don't want to take a chance of messing up my intake. If you do it, let me know how hard it was.

From AEM's website. www.aempower.com

Air Bypass Valve
AEM’s Air Bypass valve for Cold Air Induction Systems virtually eliminates the unlikely chance of water ingestion should the filter element become wet from deep puddles, rain, hail, sleet or snow–or any other scenario in which the filter element could encounter or become submerged in water. The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe on the same axis as the throttle body centerline. Should a drop in pressure occur within the pipe due to filter submersion, the valve shuts down induction at the filter and routes incoming air through its external orifices, eliminating any chance of water ingestion.
AEM’s Air Bypass Valve is for use on AEM Cold Air Systems only.

Notice the last line...they will NOT warranty any claims or problems if you use the bypass with anyone else's intake but theirs!

So technically maybe AEM didn't intend on the bypass begin used on another intake besides theirs? This sucks! The one thing that is holding me up from buying an intake is the fear of static hydrolocking my engine.

You can always cut/adapt anyone's intake to work with the AEM bypass, but AEM will not warranty any claims that the AEM bypass doesn't work, if you put it on someone else's intake.

As long as the bypass is close to the TB, and is level with the TB, you should have no problems with it.

I also don't think you are going to have ANY problems with EVERY hydrolocking unless you plan on fording any rivers or streams in your tibby.

lastly...if you want, I can help you create a CAI that is immune to water unless you dunk the nose up to the level of the headlights. E-mail me for details. It won't be easy...but you can do it. for under $100.
