another 1.8 ecu question...
ok i know the topic has been talked about alot, but could someone tell me what tools you need to take it out. Where its located, and anything else that you need to know to take it out. Ii wonder because i called a local junk yard here, and they sell ecus for 25 dollars. thanks

Simple hand tools, joints than bend backwards, and a lack of any bones in your body might be a big help... I would also consider a blanket or something you can lay onthe floor of the car so you go not get beat up with stuff in the carpet.

well i just picked up my new 1.8 ecu for 20 dollars. love crazy rays

I just put mine in and I am not sure if there is any change from my 2.0 ecu.
I also put my Fidanza adjustable cam gear in today so I cant tell where the gain is coming from. I put the gear in first, then a couple hours later the ecu. The gear with +8 degrees gave me a nice gain. I can't really notice a difference in power with the ecu swap.
I don't know, seems smoother.....

Not done with the "parts gathering" part of the swap. So far I have, Fidanza flywheel, valeo clutch, manual starter, short shifter, transmission.
Back on topic, I am planning on doing some gtech runs with the 2.0 and 1.8 ecus to see if there is any difference, probably not enough to show a gain in the 1/4 mile.
What part # did you get?

Yup it's from Tibs in production UP TO 8/16/1997 - 1.8L's
And Elantras between 07/05/1996 to 8/16/1997
What you DON'T want is a 39110-23900 smile.gif Older style 1.8's
