Today I was having problems with a loss of power steering. I knew it wasn't a loose belt as I just tightened them a month ago, so I was fearing a seized up power steering pump. It wasn't completely broken as it still would give a little bit of power here and there, if I didn't put too much force on it. I quickly checked the fluid, and it was low, but still within range, and the belt, which was ok too. Then my battery light started to fade on if I turned the wheel too much; I just assumed the seized power steering pump was affecting that as well.
So I finally get back home and can look into it a little more, and while the power steering belt was fine, the alternator belt was completely loose! I found that the bolt holding it in place (not the adjusting bolt, but the one that holds it) was missing. But not completely missing, the tip of the bolt was still laying there. So apparently the thing sheared in two and I lost belt tension from the underdrive pulley itself. (Now I wonder about my car temperature, isn't that driven by the same one that was loose? I didn't notice any overheating and it was pretty cold tonight, so I should be ok...)
Any ideas where to get that bolt, or a size/thread of it? I have the tip, so I could probably get the size/thread, but I don't know the overall length or what the thing looked like. I'll probably end up going to Lowe's and trying to find one, but though I should stop by here first.

The bolt is only a few dollars at the dealership. Lowes will not have what you need.
