my alternator has gone out 3 times in the past 6 months...what could be up? most recently a 2 week old alternator went out.

are they any recalls with the 97 tib that i'm unaware of? or any problem that plagues them with the alternator?

not only could your wiring be bad...but what are you getting for replacement altenators?

meaning, are you buying remanufactured ones or BRAND SPANKIN NEW ones? i personally wouldn't buy a reman.

I would definitely look into getting a lifetime warranty alternator. It'll obviously save you money. Check your wiring in the engine, everywhere you can. Make sure wires aren't exposed. Do you have a system?

i have pioneer headunit and pioneer REV series speakers, but no amp or anything major.

as for the alternator, the place has been replacing them for free since i paid for the 1st one, and they are under warrenty and i'd better get this one for free or i'll shoot someone. i'll ask about remanufactured ones tomarrow.

and the "power" i'm pushing is stock...if that's any power at all.

Have you checked the belt alignment? Maybe its wearing out the bearing? Just a thought/possibility..

Yeah, that happened when I got mine replaced. They put one on with a bent bell housing and the pulley was off on the belt and the pressure killed it in a week.
