Default Air breathers

I seen that these are real popluar on Honda Motors...what their purpose? Can they be fitted to Hyundai Motors? (if it would make a performance difference)

they let the crank fumes out into the open air rather than back into the motor, it's supposed to help but damn I can't stand the fumes since open air = into your face when moving.

The hose that routes from your Valve Cover to your air intake just before the Throttle body is the hose.

No they don't make HP. Anyone who claims so probably thinks stickers add HP too.

The hose allows the valve area to suck air in at idle, and blow air out at high RPM.

As Brendan stated, the fumes are fairly nasty, so letting your engine suck them in and burning them is a MUCH better way to go than trying to vent them to the atsmophere.

The point of it all is that the fumes from the crank is hot. That's a bad thing for the intake to take in that hot air directly from the crank when it's reving. It's not the small filter giving you performance, it's the re-routing of that hot air and keeping it out of your air intake.

I learned this from the Honduhboys so don't kill me if this is totally wrong. wink.gif Still makes perfect since to me though.

The ammount of air coming out that hose or out the filter is insignifcant compared to the huge volume of air your engine is injesting at High RPM.

Might as well ask "Do stickers make you Less Airodynamic?" Probably, but not in any way that could measured...

Actually in some racing circles stickers are restricted in size because teams were using huge stickers to cover seams in the doors & body panels for better aerodynamics (racing folklore he-he!).

True, but I was refering to your typical "riceboy" stickers covering 99% of the car (the 1% NOT covered being the seams!) *lol*

Jeebs he just wanted to know if the filters helped, not about using stickers on the body seams ( which does work ) oh well something new for the rice boys to learn, it's not how big the sticker is, it's where ya put it smile.gif

The crankcase breather are there for emissions and also to give positive crankcase vacuum. The positive crankcase vacuum aids in ring sealing and also helps draw the air charge in the cylinder. The only way to get around it is to add a draft tube or vacuum pump.
