Aftermarket Crank ????Where
I suppose your best bet is to pull one out of a 2.0 BETA block (pre 7/97 manuf. date so it'll work with the flywheel you have now since you have a 1.8l crank as listed). I don't think there are aftermarket cranks for us as our stock units as i've learned here are very beefy. My fellow korean comrads (also, as i've learned here) are able to throw upwards of 600whp on a stock crank...so i'm told. Point being it's really strong to begin with so going turbo with a 1.8 or a 2.0 crank shouldn't be an issue. Blueprinting would be nice though...
However the question arises, why do you want a 2.0l crank? Don't you have one since naturally you own a 2.0l block and stuck a 1.8l crank in it? Also, it's well known that the 1.8l crank is closer the the ideal bore/stroke ratio that will allow the engine to rev higher (maybe smoother?). So if you've been through the hassel of installing the 1.8l crank, i'd keep it.
And if your worried about power differences between the two displacements, they're next to nill and if you turbo will even be smaller. I was thinking about switching to a 2.0 displacement however after learning the many benifits of the 1.8l, it doesn't seem to be a weakling most people assume it is. wink

If you want to get a new one (stock, not aftermarket) and then get it balanced, worked on, etc (wouldn't recommend it, you don't need to), try www.stcharlesauto.com They have the best prices on our stock equipment, hands down.
I looked into getting a 2.0L crank to upgrade my 1.8L, I think it was $500 or so just for the crank, and then I had to get conrods, and a new ECU, which made it not worth it.
but skierd is right, these cranks (on the Beta anyway) take mad horsepower before they let go.

RPW offers cranks, as to some companies in Korea. I think www.kspec.com has a crank or two for sale.
However, as others have stated, you don't really need it unless you've got an unlimited budget and really want to get every last ounce of performance outta the car.

Alright, I see that I should not get a replacement crank and keep the 1.8 crank.
Heres my dilema
however I can not use my car(its in pieces in the garage) cause I wanted to order stronger rods and pistons for a (say)300HP turbo setup.
BUT no one makes aftermarket 1.8 rods or pistons. All I find is 2.0 pistons & rods, everywhere.
So I figured swap out for a 2.0 crank again, but a new crank is sooo exspensive
from what I see.
I could use that money to order my new flywheel or something. Anyways BackOnTopic can anyone help me piece this mystery together

Hey KillerShark, are you going to raise your redline? If not, you don't need an aftermarket crank. End of story. Aftermarket 1.8 rods DO exsist but they're a custom job. Random can tell you about those. Him and I will probably be going in on a mini-group buy for some of them in the near future (not sure when due to finances). But the only aftermarket cranks out there are simply light weight which cuts down on engine mass letting it rev quicker. If you're not trying to raise your redline above 8000rpm you really have no need for one what so ever. As for the pistons, the pistons for the 2.0liter as far as I know fit the 1.8liter as well because it's the same bore. Well OEM is 82mm and as far as I've seen, almost all aftermarket pistons are 83mm (requiring a match bore on the block). Anyone can feel free to correct me about anything above if I'm wrong but I'm almost positive on all of it! Hope it helps.
