Default 96TIBURON/96ELANTRA Engine

How similar are the engines of these cars? Can I use performance parts off the tib and put on the Elantra?

I know this is a Tiburon forum but i figured it would be the only place to ask the questions im asking.

I know that it was the first year that the Elantra used the 1.8liter. I believe the Tiburon and Elantra both used this same motor.

If you've got the Beta Engine, they are identical.

There isn't a 96 Tiburon however.

Sorry man.

Also, welcome to the forums, please FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE, you'll find it in the User CP area.

You need to list your location (at least a state), and your ride.

That's right, the Tib didn't come out till 97. ^Like Redz said, if they're both betas, they're identical.

I can almost guarantee your 96Elantra didn't have a Beta.

go to hmaservice.com/webtech and type in info for 1997 Tiburon (1.8L or 2.0L beta, doesn't matter)
then search through the links on the left and click on engine tab, go through stuff until you see picture of engine. If your engine looks like ours (exactly) then you have our identical engine.

From my knowledge, I do not believe you do have the beta, i think it was only on the older Elantra.

there is Elantraxd.com as well which is more for Elantra (but you are welcome here....)

Easiest way to figure it out, post a pic of your engine bay and we will tell you if you do or not.

By the way, if he doesn't have the beta...what engine came w/ the newer Elantra's? name? specs?

It did actually bud
1.8's Only though.
1.8 and 2.0's are almost identical.

98-00 Elantras had the 2.0's
