Not quite.
4-1 are tuned for top end, at the expense of low end.
4-2-1 are tuned for low-mid range, at the expense of top end.
In general, 4-1 will show more HP, but you may loose torque under 3000 RPM.
4-2-1 are the better choice for the "daily driver", as they boost low and mid range, but do not not have the top end power of 4-1.
Because automatic's do not get up into the higher RPM range often, and use the "bottom/mid" range most often, 4-2-1 are reccomend for automatics. However, 4-2-1 work just as well on 5-speeds.

those hp numbers really dissapoint me...
how is it possible that an engine rated at 140 hp only puts down barely 100 whp in stock trim...
my first car, a 1994 nissan sentra 1.6L dynoed 94.5 whp, and it was also automatic. (4-1 headers and ricer muffler was the only mods), it was not tuned for the headers or anything else for that matter....
i'm REALLY mad about this crap...
still, i'm lucky to get high 14's in the 1/4 mile with just the nitrous !!!!

FordFaster-
Gen1 tiburons tend to dyno out "lower" than gen2's. There was some form of a change in the engine in 7/99. I cannot figure out WHAT the change was, but it appears that that change took effect for most of the Gen2's. Most of the Gen2's dyno out higher.
At our last Dyno day with the Nissan SE-R club of So Cal, a Gen1 5 speed, with a MHP CAI as the ONLY mod dyno'd out at 125 HP.
My original "baseline" dyno run with my 5-Speed tibby, was only 110.4 hp and 111.3 torque in bone stock form! So it also appears that there are "good" engines and "not so good" engines from the Hyundai factory. Maybe Batlord got a "not so good" engine like I did.
I have not seen ANY dyno's for the XD Elantra that is MAP based, maybe we can get someone with one in the SoCal Area to come up to for our next Dyno Day on the 30th.
