Well guys, whenever i make a hard 1-2 shift on my 1.8l '97 Tibby (90k miles) i get a crunch. Sounds like my synchro's aren't doing the job anymore. It just started 3 nights ago. When i'm slow and gentle it's fine, but as soon as i want to do a drag race and shift at high rpms, it sounds like capt. crunch and the crunch berries. Annoying, but most of all I feel like i'm tearing up my transaxle. What can i do?

rebuild time !!!!!!!!!!!!!

take it to the tranny shop, get new synchros put in all over ! smile.gif

 

Yeah i've had the same problem with my 3rd, I went to my local Hyundai and they changed my synchro's.Was in Quaranty.Also somebody told me to look my Valvolines.

 

sure, could be your synchro
howewer check oil level in your tranny:
low level could be hard shift cause
