Hi,

I have a bunch of question. I bought the car a week back and it has 60K miles on it.

- What do I do for the 60K service? tranny flush/spark plugs/fuel filter/o2 sensor/airfilter. anything else?

- The airbag light is on. When I looked into the fuse box in engine compartment, the fuses for airbag were mssing. These are pretty wierd looking fuses, where do I get them?

- Same thing for fog lamps. There are fog lamps but they dont work. I cant find any swith on the console so I am assuming they turn ON when you use the low beam. Same with the fuses in engine compartment. The fuse for fog lights are absent.

- The low beam is absolutely pathetic! I cannot see more than 5-6 feet in front of the car! Can I do anything about it? I end up using the high beam all the time but its hazardous to the other drivers.

- The car feels like it hesitates to go into 3rd gear. I just flushed the tranny fluid. Could it be tranny going bad?

Thanks in advance!
Nihar

between your 60k and 90k service, I'd suggest getting timing belt changed. Maybe closer to 90k.

Are the fog lights factory? There's a button on the left side of the steering wheel (the silver thing). Is there a button there with a green light that illuminates? (similar to the rear defrost button). The one on the left, at the bottom of the circle controls the fog lights I believe.

For the low beam, all you need is to adjust the headlights. There's a phillips screw on the back of the headlight housing, screw that one way or another to adjust it. In the owner's manual, it will tell you how to adjust it properly (something like pull up 10ft from a wall and adjust the line to be 30" high or something like that, can't remember specifics)

My tranny died at 63,000 miles, then again at 125,000 miles. Automatics are known to go bad. Could be your problem.

Thanks for the reply! It looks like a factory fog light unless they are just covers! There is a switch but no green light.
I changed the spark plug and it seems to run much better!
I got a shock of my life! The previous owner seemed to have removed the airfilter 02.gif I hope it has not done a lot of damage to the engine.
Installed a new filter, does it matter which way the filter goes? There are no arrows on the filter or the housing so I dont know what is "top" of the filter.
Were there any signs of the tranny dying?

There's no wrong way to put in an air filter really... As long as you didn't force it in you know? Just place it in and close it.

As for the auto tranny going. If you are driving, and you hit it, it may hesitate and then slam into gear, that's bad. If it takes a little longer than usual to put your car from reverse to drive, bad. Odd noises, bad. You get the point. Try some Lucas trans treatment if you are low, it might help.

The weird fuses you are talking about are the Relays I believe. You can go to Autozone and tell them you need an airbag relay and they should get one for you. I'll take a look at my fuse panel tomorrow to make sure it's a relay, but it should be.
