Default 2.0L Shortblock, or intake

Hmm... decisions decisions decisions! i can get an IM and TB for $100, OORRRRRR i can shell out $300 for the motor. this is a whole motor, the car was recked... they guarantee everythings fine. hes had it for a year and has had NO ONE looking to buy anything off the car, so he just really wants to get rid of it... what should i do? i dont really have a place to work on the motor, no garage or anything, cause im in the military. i could maybe rent one of those storage units or soemthing???? well maybe someone close would let me pay them to use their girage or something? hell i dunno, i just want the damn thing! then i could build the hell out of it! YEEEEE HAAAWW eek.gif eek.gif eek.gif

For $300, I would go with the motor. FIND a place to store it. Hell, If you don't want it, I might take it!

Joel and I got an engine stand for $40; a hoist is a different matter entirely.

We picked up my shortblock from the dealership, and myself and two other big dealership dudes all got together and put it in the bed of a pickup truck. One plastic tarp, a few blankets for padding, and a shizload of rope kept it from wiggling around on the way to Joel's garage.

Try to get as many parts as possible, such as the intake manifold and TB (not part of the shortblock technically) as well as the accessories (A/C and steering pump, alternator, brackets for the above) and also try to get any misc plumbing and electrical (fuel rail and lines, idle speed controller, MAF sensor, blah blah)

Basically, do your best to get all the $300 worth smile.gif

I picked up a true shortblock (ie block, head, and everything therein -- nuthin else) for $150. $300 certainly isn't bad, but see how much you can get away with wink.gif

S**T, that's a great deal, keep it in your room until you find somewhere to store or work on it. I wish I would have found it. sad.gif

lets just say nitrous brings out any existing weak points in a motor, I basically have the same problem you did before you had to get your pistons fixed.
