1.8l Cam And Cel. Please Help.
#1
A little while ago I installed a 1.8 cam into my Tiburon and since then I have had a CEL. I thought it was just the ECU complaining about the sudden change. But after I took it to the dealership to have the code read, I found out that th code was for the cam sensor. The mechanic told me that there was a little piece of metal on the cam that gives the sensor it's reading.
I guess I am going to have to open up the valve cover eventually to have a look. But I was hoping someone here can give me an idea what I am lookin for.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?

there is a small metal "nub" at the belt end of the intake cam (not that the intake cam has anything to do with the timing belt) and a corrisponding sensor on the head. I imagine of the cam had been dropped or something was done to this nub, you would get the cel. You might also have disconnected the sensor or even damaged it during the install.
The sensor is on the backside of the head, right next to the cam belt cover

Here is a pic after I removed the 2.0 cam.
Here is a pic of the end of the cam. Is this the "nub"?
Here is a shot after the 1.8 cam went in. I am sure that I can see here that the "nub" and the sensor are in there.
Do you see anything wrong?

Do you think the sensor is screwed or did the cam "nub" lose it's magnetism?
Over on HP someone told me it works with magnetism. Is it possible this could be the problem?
