Hi guys

Does anybody have the exact measurements for the 11:1 pistons everybody talks about.

The OEM ones are expensive over here, so my mechanic is going to try look for some others but needs measurements to look for.

Any help would be appreciated, thnx

One day I tried to find pistons 82 mm in diameter from another car. There are not many cars with that bore.

There are pistons for russian car (82mm in diameter) I can get for like 5-10 bucks for 1 piston, but they have different pin hole.

Yea they are slightly cheaper, however I've never purchased online, nor from overseas so I really have no clue how the payment would be made, who I would pay the duties, tax and shipping to.

(1) My mechanic is convinced he can pick up a stronger set of pistons for a lesser price, but he needs dimensions to check.

(2) *KSPEC import pistons*
$139 x R7.80 = R1084.20
20% duties = R216.84
14% VAT = R182.15
Shipping - R450.00
Total = R1933.19

(3) *Local Hyundai dealer pistons*
R535 * 4 = R2140

(4) I can source a 1.8 elantra complete engine that ran a main bearing for R2000, including gearbox, and perhaps negotiate the intake manifold and throttle body...
However those will be standard sized pistons, and would only work if there are no imperfections in my cylinders, would I need new rings for those pistons aswell?

1.8 Elantra - G4DR Beta

Part number: RP48002
Compression height 31mm
Length 61.50
Gudgeon pin spec 20x59
3 Rings
52mm

A friend got me those specs and said I could get pirate pistons from these guys:

Alert (Vinesh) +27 31 705 2363
South Africa
AE or Kolbin Smith pistons

Auto Power brand
Piston
R75 + 14% VAT *4 = R342
Ring
R228 + 14% VAT *4 = R1039.68
Total = R1381.68

I just spoke to my mechanic and he says Auto Power brand will not handle a higher than intended compression ratio and will break down easily. So we on the hunt for something else local.

@daoust
R not $
R = ZAR (South African Rand, the currency we use over here)

$139 x R7.80 = R1084.20 (KSPEC price multiplied by the exchange rate)
20% duties = R216.84 (plus the import duties we have to pay on car parts)
14% VAT = R182.15 (plus the TAX we pay on everything)
Shipping - R450.00 (plus the shipping because last I checked KSPEC doesnt include international shipping)
Total = R1933.19

If KSPEC did international shipping included in their price, I could pay with credit card and get away without paying duties or taxes! Which would make them super cheap and a done deal wink1.gif

DUDE!
kspec is in Korea, EVERYTHING they sell has the international shipping price INCLUDED.

They, ship, they deliver, all of us have bought from them, and you can pay with credit card; come on TK get into the 21st century! wink1.gif

Really, ksepc is your best bet, I know because here in Peru we have the same (or pretty similar laws) 20% import taxes and 19% general tax; BUT we don't have to pay for orthers less than $100
