In a search for the "right" part number for the 1.8 ecu's, I came across this post:

"that's the wrong ecu that everyone wants. The number on that ebay ecu is 39100-23920. You want a 39100-23940." - njsharkracer

My question is what's the difference? One's a rev-a and the other's a rev-b or what?

 

rev a is 23920...

the one you want is the 23940 which is good for us with 1.8L ECU...i need to $hit and get off the pot and install mine...lol

Hey, I had a question, I found a 1.8L ECU on Ebay,but the part number is 39150-23920, any comments on it? and also, what year of the 1.8L ECU from an elantra is compatible with the Beta I 2.0L Tiburon?(2001)

 

It IS compatible however, that particular number is for a Rev. A. So unless you have and evap canister, you will be throwing codes. Get the other one.

 

Ok, so the first set of numbers really isnt very important? because the first post said it was 39100, not 39150 or w.e it was that I found. And is any 1.8L ECU from an elantra compatible as long as the part number matches up?

 

I'm pretty sure that 39100 refers to being an Elantra whereas 39150 is from a tiburon. Just as 23920 refers to Rev. A as 23940 refers to Rev. B.

 

Ah, mk. Thank you for the help. Any reccomendations on when to get this? like what should I do before it. I've been thinking a 1.8 Cam(is it intake or exhaust cam?),and then gettin this. But it seems like there should be other things I should do before hand to benefit it more.

 

Nawh, that's right. Cam first (intake only, exhaust is the same between 2.0 and 1.8's), then ECU to get the full benefit, where, if I'm not mistaken, the ECU will tell the injectors to flow more due to the increased duration of the 1.8 cam.

At least that's what I gather.

 

1.8 ECU makes you run less rich.
