Sub Installation
lol at the little ranting goin on here...
i myself an a car install technician. i install sub"woofers" and all audio video starters and alarms myself. so i will give people a little run down on the minor details that i feel nessesary to know.
in regards to runniong power wire with your audio cables, it is fine if you are just doing a sub"woofer" amplifier. if you are installing a speaker amplifier you should run your audio down one side of the car and power down the other side.
your ground is the most IMPORTANT thing you are gonna hook up in an installation.
DONT DRILL INTO YOUR GAS TANK. i have seen it done a few times. I myself am fortunate enough to say that i have not done it yet!
I prefer to use seat bolts. but always scrape the paint from your groudning area as the paint will worsen your ground.
Make sure your power is fused under the hood incase it grounds to the frame. it can save a car fire easitly!! dont go thru your door jam either when runng power. drill into your firewall. just watch out for brake booster/lines/ etc. and use a gromet to isolate the power from the frame.
NEVER mount your amp to direct metal from the car.... it will ground out ur amplifier and could cause problems.
bracing a sub box is a good thing.... when your sub box "flexes" you lose a lot of spl and SQ.
here are a couple videos of my most recent full custom job.. on a 07 mustang.

Dude, do check the dates on these threads your posting in, some of them are pretty old... We prefer starting new threads rather than bumping old ones, and commenting on old discussions like that isn't looked too well upon.
Just to let ya know fing02.gif
