making a purse out of a sows ear
I will post pics soon enough.. but this is background. Two weeks ago I ordered and installed one of those cheap "circle earth" grounding systems. It seemed like a good idea at the time... but I discovered a small problem. As my CAI goes down a hole into the fender where the battery used to be.. my battery is now offset towards the radiator.. unfortunatly the bolt on connector that goes atop the battery for the kit was rubbing against the insulation.
What happened then.. the post that the ground wire and the kit bolt to, came loose from the adaptor.. it was causing all sorts of electical gremlins in my car. Radio would shut off, lights on would stall the car. The CEL came on a few times when I touched the brakes.. and finally the car would not start unless I popped the hood.
What I did.
I removed the block that all the wires bolt too and moved it to one of the mounts that the original filter box used. I then took one of the wires I had used to help ground the block to the car.. and ran it to the original ground wire the car uses. Perhaps it is not as pretty as the real Circle earth system.. but it was a cheap upgrade that did wind up working after all... just not the way most people would consider proper.
I will get a new website tomarrow and post the pics.

well... I could not really call it a silk purse.. just making the best out of what turned out to be a bad purchase on my part. It did not work as designed or advertised, so I altered it to actually do something.
