It doesnt' say to do that.
Please read. We all know how to do this, it's for the folks that DON'T.
It also says to disconnect the Negative battery cable, but you don't need to do that either.

consider tapping into the power and ground wires a POWER SOURCE
consider the switch included with your a gauges a VALVE that CLOSES when you press OFF (NOT allowing electricity to flow to the gauges) and the VALVE OPENS when you press ON (allowing electricity to flow to the gauges.
So your ON/OFF switch for the gauges will not do anything unless the corner lights are flipped on(or headlights) because THAT is a valve TOO, allowing electricity to flow to the dimmer switch (YOUR gauges power source).
So the ON/OFF switch (and in turn the gauges) will only work when the corners/headlights are on...(AND the switch is in the ON position).
Simply, NO..tapping into the dimmer switch does not BYPASS the use of the switch included with your gauges. It is simply where your gauges get power...

Anyone know of a good place to mount this switch?
Im in the middle of my install and i have the bottom part of my dash off. I have taken out the 4 screws holding the dash down and the cable near the gas pedal. What else needs to come off? Am I missing something? Does it just pop off or am I missing a screw somewhere?
