Default Don't be STUPID

just to let you guys know, the Duplicolor wheel paint gets an enthusiastic thumbs up.

when my car was in an accident last year, 2 of the rims got chunks taken out of them, and another one was curbed a bit, so when i re-mounted them with my studded-snow tires, i decided to paint them flat black to help hide the damage. bad move. the flat black looked terrible, and it let dirt and mud stick to the finish (or lack-there-of).

this year i went with this new 2-part wheel paint in gunmetal. worlds better. it looks, feels, and is holding up (month and a half so far) just like factory finish. the clear coat needs to be applied between 15 and 60 minutes of the last coat of color, and it atually bonds to the paint. i wiped a drip of clear off my mask, and it had turned gunmetal-ish even when sprayed on dry paint.

i may even have to refinish my rims in the silver before the spring.

Default Duplicolor Wheel Paint

If you had gotten it sandblasted first and fix any chunks off the wheel, then do the duplicolor, it'll look VERY professional!
Couple of the guys here have done that and have used the same duplicolor Wheelpaint and it is VERY nice

i just used sandpaper to remove the roughness of the damage, and i really didn't want to put much more time, effort or money into the wheels that were gonna be coated in snow, slush and salt anyway... have the other guys who've done this mentioned anything about the long-term durability? chipping/peeling?

wow... I don't think I've ever seen stock Hyundai wheels in gunmetal. Now we're getting somewhere people. I like it more than the silver. Good work Phorq

That's what I painted my dash with. Very rugged paint. I may have to break down this summer and do the rims.

Wow, that does look awesome. You will have to let us know how it holds up through the winter. Are those stock tib or elantra wheels?
Nice work

It's kind of a DIY as well though.
