Default Cheap Taillight Mod

why would a bypass valve negate the effects of a cai?

doesn't the valve stay closed until there is blockage of the lower end of the cai?

Underneath the foam cover is this series of rubber flap doors that are normally sealed closed.

The vacuum created in the intake system when the filter is submerged in water forces the flaps open. This is how the valve looks when feeding an NSX at full throttle. It takes significantly less of an opening to feed an Integra idling through a deep puddle.</div>

The instructions with the AEM Bypass Valve say that the valve may decrease performance slightly because of the interuption in air flow. I haven't noticed any difference though. It's probably something that could only be seen on a dyno.

BTW - As far as "Name Brand" components go for car shows, would OBX made products not count? Because as far as I know the CAI I bought is OBX.

Yes, they are, I'm going to replace them with the HKS set later.

Bastard.

LOL

You want my Off Brand set?

About OBX, does it say OBX? Is OBX a good name brand? (I hope so, I got their headers... LOL).

About performance, under hard acceleration the flaps can open to let warm air in, not to mention the fact that the rubber flaps degrade in the engine heat. Air seeps around the flaps and such. We talked about it awhile back on HA.com.

Again, if you need a bypass, you need a boat.

Well, I needed a boat last weekend, I'm glad I had my bypass. It helps the peace of mind. I don't know if OBX is a good brand. I may have to replace my CAI later down the road. But, I may go turbo so??? Depends on my needs I guess.
