If you get a aftermarket shift knob with a overdrive button this is for you.

most overdrive buttons work off of two wires the 2001 tiburon has three
as follows here are the colors of the wires

red/white black/white yellow/white


the red and black need are the overdrive on
the red and yellow are overdrive off and turns on the od light on dash

now you have to use a relay 30 bosh and you have to fuse all power connections just in case you get the wrong wires 5 to 10 amp fuses




this is how you wire it up from the overdrive wires you should have 2 ground one to the the chassy

now take the other end of the overdrive wire and connect it to the 85 connection of the relay.

now take the 86 and connect it to the ciggrette light positive use a multimeter set to dc and the black meter side has a good ground
now probe with the red side of the meter and turn on ignition it should give you 12 voilts 0nly when you turn the key and nothing when you turn the key off this is the ignition wire that you will need fuse this with a 5 to 10 amp fuse please before you connect to it.

Now take the 30 side off the relay and connect it to the red/white wire

Now take the black/white and connect it to the 87a

Now take the yellow wire and hook it up to 87

the 30 on the relay is the main source the 87 and the 87a are the switching points

87a will always be connected when the relay is off

and 87 will only be on when you turn on the relay

in other words push the overdrive button to connect the od button and the ignition button the connection 85 and 86

now I have mine with the overdrive on at all times closed loop and when i turn on the relay it turns the overdrive off


so if you wanna do the reverse meaning have the over drive off without the button and it on when you use the button just switch the 87 and the 87a

in other words if you want to have the od off at all times just hook the yellow wire to the 87a

and then the 87 to the black wire

and keep the red at 30 on the relay

not reposable for installer error these are the colors that were in my 2001 tiburon use at you own means lol.gif
