DIY Hood Spacing
Parts:
1) i picked up 24 1/4 inch diam washers (just in case i lost a few, which i did) only showed one of them
2) two hex bolts 8mm 25x30mm part number - 030699359882 - the one in the bag as well as the one to the left
3) two of the original bolts - the little bolt on the right
Steps:
1) start by propping up the hood
2) pick a side to start with (i did the left to get the to get the windshield washer fluid hose out of the way)
3 take out the clip for the fluid hose and remove the clip by pressing on the tabs and pull it out (don't lose it)
4) now start with a 12mm box wrench and remove the bolt closest to the front and set it aside.
5) now prop the hood on your shoulder and remove the other bolt (and don't let the hood fall or you can crack the windshield.
6) gently set the hood against the rubber lining of the windshield and start by sliding in the extended bolt into the whole in the back of the hinge and put 6 of your washers and now bolt it up using a 13mm box wrench (the new bolt head is bigger) (but not tight cause you need to angle the hood
7) now take one of the original bolts (doesn't matter which) and put it through the front hole and put 4 washers on this bolt.
8) tighten down the front bolt first, than tighten the back one so you get the proper angle to be able to latch down your hood.
9) now put the fluid hose clip back in and reattach your hose.
10) repeat for the other side but there's no hose so don't worry about that
11) to make all of this effective there's is weather stripping in front of the wiper blade cowl panel and just rip that crap out. This will let the hot air escape.
and your done and take a look at your marvelous work

That's a lot of space. I know you spoke about this on CrookedH as well, but for everyone else, if you do 2 to 3 washers vs. 6, you can use the stock bolts and achieve the same result without the huge gap.

no i dont live in alabama. the duct tape is holding down my cowel panel because with the spacing the wind current getrs under it and makes it vibrate, and i couldnt stand it so i duct taped it.

yea you can use up to 4 washers on the stock bolts, but i didnt think i was getting enough out of it, i got an additional 4 degrees drop with the added gap in my im, that being in Celsius so about 7 degrees Fahrenheit.

Lol. Cooling the IM.
Instead of duct tape, grab a couple of fasteners from Auto Zone (or any store like it) and put them back in where the weatherstripping was pulled out. Hell, for that matter, you can use the ones from inside the weatherstripping if you don't plan on putting it back in.

i tried from autonzone. they didnt have any fasteners that fit, and i tried zipties but it just doesnt work, and the fasteners from the weather stripping are different and dont fit either. i tried all day yesterday, so i just gave up. ill probably use double sided outdoor tape so you cant see it.
