Anyways. Cdog if you're reading, I think you have a clogged PCV drain. That looks like engine oil

ooooh so it does. If it's supposed to be dry, don't oil it. Also use whatever AEM says to use if you're supposed to oil it, not a K&N kit (which is what threw me).

do you think it would be alright to just use the air cleaning solution of the k&n kit?

Do whatever the manufacturer of your filter suggests. Otherwise you run the risk of ruining it's performance or physical integrity (might fall apart).
