Re: A little more progress *MORE PICS ADDED*
I'm trying install my short shifter, but none of the DIYs show how to remove the center console. I found one at Speedstate, but it's pretty vague in several areas. So far, I've remove all the screws, but what next? Thanks for the help, Redz wink.gif .

Center console removal?
Removed all the screws? I hope they are not the fake ones on the shift surround. laugh.gif
There are two screws on each side of the center console, one in the front, then one back by the seat belt area. Remove those, then slide the whole console back. Pop off the shift surround and you should be set.
Here's a link to webtech, http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/default.asp. I can't get into it right now for some reason.

Re: Center console removal?
What java said is correct....
However when I installed my B&M SS....I didn't remove the console.
AND
when I installed my R-Side SS i didn't remove the console......
its NOT NECESSARY.....however, some ppl do it just to have more room to work.

Re: attention webmaster
So the whole shift surround (the grey part) is supposed to pop off? I was trying to pry it off, but I stopped because I was afraid it might break. Oh, and I took out the black screws, although I did try to take out the fake ones too. I found out they were fake when they started to deform.

Re: attention webmaster
yeah just the shifter surround......pop off your knob, grab right onto and under the shift boot (on the inside / underside of the fake screw ring) and pull up, straight up.....
for me, even though i pull straight up, the part closer to the e-brake usually comes up first....then just pull the front part up and you've got enough off to install the short shifter.

I got it off. Yeah, the back part come off first. The front passenger side of it was a pain. Anyways, the nasty (and I do mean NASTY) old factory shifter is out. I don't have any 'jelly' lubricants, so I'm gonna go to Wal-Mart tomorrow to get some. Then my beautiful new Rside Short Shifter Advanced will be ready for install.
Thanks for the help guys.
