Will humanity ever become a interstellar civilization?

DO you think its possible for humanity to become an interstellar civilization in 500 or 1000 years from now? Some people think we'll return to the stone ages before that happens. Returning to the stone age may be necessary to recognize our mistakes as a civilization and rise above them to become a far more technological society.

IMO the only way this happens is a revolutionary invention that makes it inexpensive and quick. If that invention happens, yes. If not, never. It doesn't matter how unified the world is if you're using rockets for anything beyond low Earth orbit you'll never see a mission to another star system.
