In the future, now that Steve Jobs has passed away. Think they way get better, stay the same, or lose traction? Steve Jobs was a visionary and changed the world with his ideas, thoughts, and inventions. Without him around, it'll be very interesting to see what happens to the company.

Steve jobs didn't invent much.
He took internet piracy, called it iTunes and made people pay.
He took mp3 players and made people pay lots of money for then
He took smart phones, made them shiney and charged out the butt
He took credit for all of his workers ideas.
He made people believe they were getting value but in fact things were so locked down that you have to buy the next overpriced piece of crap that he 'invented' because he wouldn't let you do that with the last piece of overpriced crap.
He was a good business man and he should be remembered for his powers of persuasion. Apple will not do as well without him.

i think Apple would roll back to the same situation it was in prior to Steve returning to the company.
I'll have to agree with DTN though. I never really liked Apple because of how the products seem to lockdown their customers. He was very charismatic and knew how to get what he wanted. without that driving force in Apple, i don't think the next products would have the same impact or consumer acceptance as the other products had before Steve's death.
Still, it's a pity he's dead though.
good thing we still have Jonathan Ive with us, Apple may still churn out design-worthy gadgets.
EDIT: like what DTN said, he's a businessman. poor woz is all i can say

Apple will be fine, they already have a huge product base to rely on income; Which will continue to be improved upon.
If apple fails it will be years from now, because companies like apple work out what they are going to do years in advance.
For all we know jobs had 10 more ideas out on paper that haven't been put into the line up yet.
Jobs didn't steal any ideas he took an mp3 player and revolutionized what an mp3 player is today. To imply that he ripped of all of his big successes is completely ridiculous. He made downloading LEGAL and made it work in a way that simplified transferring downloaded music to an ipod. He jump started the sensation of smartphones by creating something that was nothing like any other company had produced. After the iphone came out it inspired other great phones like many of the htc line. He took good inventions that lacked innovation and turned them into products that practically sold them selves.
i am by no means an apple fan, but i respect the inventor that constantly pushed the bar.
suck it dtn

Seriously... He took ALL of his ideas from existing things. I'm not implying that he ripped off anything.... He ripped off everything!
He took the idea for the first Mac computer from another company which he saw at a show. He stopped all current apple projects and turned to a mouse driven interface after seeing it somewhere else
He didn't make downloading music legal. I had a paid kazaa account 3 years before iTunes opened up. That was legal back then.
He didn't jumpstart smart phones... Microsoft did with the "SmartPhone"... Ever wonder why they're "Smart Phones"? That's why... literally, that's what Microsoft called their Windows CE Phones. Which was a derivation of their Windows CE platform. I had a PocketPC(windows ce) and a PalmPilot(Palm 4) back then.. They were great and I didn't want to live without them because I could take my documents everywhere. All he did was market those existing devices and make you think you wouldn't be cool unless you had one.
No. His products don't sell themselves. It takes A TON of marketing to make them sell.
Wanna know how you can tell if it's marketing or actual research that drives a purchase? Look at the specs... The iPhone3GS was a great phone when it came out... However, the iPhone4 was obsolete by a competing HTC phone when it came out. The iPhone 4S is a joke of a product. If anyone buys it, they fell into marketing. lol. Sad, but true..
All iOS5 features are ripoffs of Android 2.2, well a great majority of them. Lockscreen replacement, OTA updates, Cloud storage, pulldown menu... Here, go to this address http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html and ask anyone with a 2 year old Android if they ever had to upgrade for any of those features... We also get more... Facebook sync for one... customizable syncs for anyone who wants to design them, and there's a ton.
In order to get the features of Android 2.3 or 2.4, you will have to jailbreak your iPhone.
I could keep going... Seriously.. you fell into marketing dude.

IMO Apple is just good at convincing non tech savvy people to buy their stuff. They make it so easy an idiot can do it. That can make idiots pretty happy that they can somewhat use technology, but for people who are a bit tech savvy most of them buy something else or for some reason hopped on the Apple bandwagon and refuse to re-evaluate their choice.
