Seems like genetic modification is a more permanent and less invasive way (either modifying embryos so new people are born with certain superior traits, or using stem cells or gene therapy to modify existing recipients)...

genetic includes things like cloning new body parts etc, cybernetic would also include nanomachines

We are already producing cybernetic modifications such as cone/rod replacements and pacemakers.

How would you know if you were genetically engineered?

Both are already been being experimented with, although in fledgling stages. I think genetic therapy will become commonplace fairly soon, but not for anything superhuman like, more to help repair genetic disorders. As far as cybernetics are concerned I think that is where we will see true enhancements before too long. It will be possible to add extra senses, etc. Basically any sensor you desire can be wired into the brain and interpreted. Blindness and deafness will be circumvented by the additions of optical and audio sensors.
