Samsung has announced a new 5-inch smartphone called the Galaxy Grand.
Despite the name, it's a mid-range device, with a slightly disappointing 800 x 480 screen resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
Other features of note include 8GB of internal memory (further expandable to 64GB via a microSD memory card) and a 2,100mAh battery (same as the Samsung Galaxy S III).
On the software side, it will come with Android 4.1.2 and support for Samsung's Multi Window mode of operation, meaning users will be able to run two apps on the screen simultaneously.
The Galaxy Grand will be available both as a dual-sim and a single-sim device. Samsung hasn't revealed the exact date of availability or pricing.
Seriously? 5" phone? Pretty soon it will be impossible to put these things in your pocket.

I never talk on my phone. If I do, it's in the car and I'm on bluetooth. It's a complete messaging/web/media/game device now. I wouldn't mind it, but I probably wouldn't buy one
i don't get it... so it is a smaller, low end note II with a low resolution screen?
looks like they are making a bigger SIII with less performance specs and relatively low resolution for that big of a device..
Looks like the specs are pretty close to what the now outdated Galaxy SII was besides the screen size and the cheap look and feel (one of the reasons I got rid of my SIII)
I understand it is going to be a 'midrange' but why not make it a little different looking than the SIII and note II.
meh..
The biggest phone I think I could ever deal with carrying around would be the size of the RAZR Maxx HD and a 4.5" screen or so. The S3 4.8" screen was a little to big for me as it was.
