Remember when game systems didn't get replaced every 2 years. There was Atari for years and years, then Nintendo for years and year, then all the sudden, SuperNintendo, N64, Playstation, XBOX, Playstaion2, XBOX 360, Playstaion3....
I still use my XBOX. There's no reason to upgrade, my chipped XBOX actually replaced every other previous game system, including NeoGeo, Playstion, N64, Nintendo..... It also added a Media Center (XBMC) All of them can be emulated/ran on my XBOX.
I might actually buy another game system if it could do what my old XBOX can do. I want a system that can replace ALL previous systems and not be replaced by the next greatest thing in a couple of years.
They just dont make them like they used to. Xbox 360s red ring every so often and Playstions have faulty controllers.... Where's the Nintendo/Original XBOX quality and value these days?

I never owned an original XBOX, but the NES was full of problems. They were a constant PITA.
The XBOX 360 has been available since November of 05, and last I heard there isn't even any serious talk about anyone but Nintendo releasing a next gen console within the next couple of years. The Nintendo product is likely to be nothing more than an upgraded Wii. That's a pretty long product generation, and with the motion capture accessories in the works for the 360 and PS3 I expect that we won't see a next gen XBOX or PS3 until at least fall of 2012, giving the 360 a 7 year life cycle.
The original XBOX games are flat out a joke when compared to the titles on a 360 or the PS3. If you say there is no reason to upgrade, you're saying that from a non-gaming perspective. I would refuse to play anything with XBOX or PS2 graphics at this point.
