Default New Xbox to be unveiled today

Microsoft unveils its latest warrior in the video game wars.

The next generation Xbox will be revealed at the company's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. It's actually going to be unveiled in two steps -- the first part Tuesday and the second during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in June.

One executive says the company will tell "one story across two events" revealing Microsoft’s "future of games and entertainment".

I will be getting either the XBox or the PS4. Interested to hear opinions of both. I haven't really used a gaming console since Nintendo. Sega Genesis doesn't count, nor does my Wii. I'm ready for some online FPS, moving from historical PC Gamer to console.

yep, im an xbox gamer(owned both the day they came out) but am starting to find some of the tactics ridiculous. charging me a yearly fee to get online, forcing me to have their service to be able to use stuff like netflix, and now hearing about possible "always online" rumors....i might switch

Faith's comment is what has me leaning toward Playstation. I don't want to pay for sh*t on a subscription basis when I've already paid for sh*t. That's as ridiculous as buying a TV, then paying for cable so you can have something to watch on your TV, then having to sit through advertisements so they can make money while they're making money AFTER you already paid money.

the 101 solved a lot of the problems that plagued the original as they aged.

But I still say the Genesis > all

I'll add something relevant to the argument.

I understand why they are holding back on the GPU specs, but seriously how do you expect and informed public to invest a grand or more at inception into a product that they really know nothing about. I get that the extraneous bells and whistles have already enthralled the masses. Christ, for that matter you can put a soda stream the dispenses solely Mt Dew on the front and sell millions with that feature alone! But without know how it works as a gaming system (to hell with the netfix and kinect resolution bullshit) it's just an expensive PC with no monitor. Pointless. But in my eyes, the most disturbing thing of all is the move to an AMD CPU! This means 3 very concerning and unavoidable realities:

1.) A technological step backwards from the architecture of the IBM processors available today. Granted, it will be much more difficult to integrate a lot of the BS add-ons with the IBM, but the AMD makes the One just another PC; and a shitty one at that.

2.) Heat!!! Mother f*cking sh*t cock nuggets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do these people never learn?!? I remember the first 8 hour gaming binge with my original xbox and the subsequent call to MS where I was informed it was my MY fault the system overheated because it wasn't intended to remain on that long WTF?! My NES has survived COUNTLESS 12+ hour binges, roomates and relatives in it's life never even bat a virtual eye. SO I had to mod it at my expense. Then the 360 BS? Now this. NO SIR! I will NOT be an early adopter here.

3.) The GPU will be an ATI for certain, which hasn't been on top of its own game since the AMD buy out years ago.

This system will be a POS and if I was Sony, (as soon as I picked my self up off the floor from laughing and counting the inevitable profits) I'd get ready to release some serious specs and shut the door on this deal ASAP.

I think it will sell very well, and I'll be one of the customers.

I dropped cable altogether, I'm irritated to pay for XBL Gold every year, but compared to the PSN, at least you have SOMETHING. The PSN is worthless. You get what you pay for. (I have both).
