Default Moving movie collection to the cloud

I have a very large movie collection (over 3,000 DVDs) and it takes up an incredible amount of space as you can picture. I thought about maybe getting a media center and putting all the movies onto a hard drive. But then I started worrying about the possibility that if the hard drive were to crash then I would lose everything. So what do you tech guys think about putting all my movies in the cloud and streaming movies to my tv via a laptop?

If you're worried about equipment failure, get enterprise-class equipment with decent warranties, and get a bigass tape drive or extra hard drives for backups.
