It's likely viral advertising for a yet unknown product.

1. If I were to put a TV on times square, I would not use an unsecured wireless signal which could be interrupted by other sources. I think anyone investing thousands of dollars on a public TV would take this into consideration and use a hardline instead of an easily interrupted wireless signal.

2. If it's not wireless then it's bullshit. You can't interrupt a wired signal with a small transmitter. You can only slightly obscure it. Even with a large one, the signal would not be able to overcome the power. Think about it like this.. if it were possible, then TV stations broadcasting near your home would interrupt your cable signal.

This is fake.

Good job on the video editing.

Here is a good write up on the hoax.

Well, I also punked the guy who wrote the article on that link. Look in the comments for that guy named "Adam Outler"... He ruined the whole basis of that article.

And, they disabled comments after mine....

The iPhone has a 4-pole AV Jack in the headphone. It is a composite TV-Out. The 4 pole headphone is one for common grounding, one for left, one for right, and one for video... I'm not debating that this is a hoax, but that the iPhone does have a AV Jack.
