According to my phone (Motorola Devour/Android):

with 25/31 Days:

Received: 536
Sent: 393

Data:

675 MB/Unlimited

Minutes:

170 / 900

Usually much much higher around like 1-1.5k, but this month I've been really busy working.

Whenever I see a girl texting while walking or texting while driving, I just want to kick her in the face.

I fluctuate between about 500 and 5000. I've been hovering around 1000 lately as I haven't been texting people as much as I use to.

I use internet on my phone constantly.

You guys are doing it wrong....
1. get Ubuntu Linux.
2. Link it's messenger to every messenger service you have.
3. Use an actual keyboard for instant messaging and dont' spend 10x as long using your little phone to type a message.

A phone's keyboard is not designed to be used for typing. Text messaging is a after-thought and even in the best implementations the speed of use is drastically reduced from that of a keyboard.

Really... I'm one of the most "connected" people you will ever meet. If you have 1000 text messages per month, you probly have spent about 1000 minutes conveying the information which could have fit in a 10 minute phone call. With all of the other methods of communication out there, text-messaging is one of the most inefficient.

It is good in certain situations, but really, I cannot picture that 1-5,000 times per month.

I do receive a ton of text messages per month.

1. Every time a sock buy or sell goes through, or when I receive a deposit, my bank text messages me.
2. Bill reminders
3. confirmations that a photobucket photo has uploaded
4. confirmations that a youtube video has uploaded
5. search results from google listing all business which match the word and zip code I sent.
6. Whenever my girlfriend sits on her phone.

As far as sending text messages from my phone, there's much better means of communications.

The problem with what you said DTN is that nearly all of my text messages are either sent from outside of my house or are very intermittent. It would be a waste of time to sit in front of the computer the whole time to type responses to someone who is replying with a phone or smartphone anyway.

I do quite a bit of IM'ing also, they serve different purposes. I rarely turn on any IM services on my phone, only if I'm bored.

It's not as hard to send 5k texts a month as it sounds. That's about 170 a day on average, or 10 an hour if you're up 16 hours. I can burn through 100+ in an hour without even trying. I use to start getting texts at about 4:30am and quit getting them at about midnight. Now I don't even check the phone until I wake up.

1k is even more reasonable, that's an average of only 33 a day.
