I don't think you can replace paypals donate links. I also use my PayPal debit mastercard all the time. I think Google checkout is more for setting up a store-front. PayPal is a bank and money transfer service.

Let me give you a bit of background on my use of paypal.. I'm an open source developer. I make about $150 in donations per month, and about $300 in services. This is my play money and it funds my hobby which gets me more donations.
When people feel appreciative of my software, they click a button in any of my apps which takes them to a donation page that puts money in my paypal account.
Setting up a new app is as simple as getting a new link from paypal that includes a new message... this way I can track which program the money comes from.
If they want to donate directly, I give them my email.
I also ask for $36 per device I perform modifications paypalled to my email address.
Google Checkout is not nearly as advanced. Don't get me wrong... I love google... most of my work centers around Android. Google Checkout just is not as advanced yet. It does not meet my needs to universally replace Paypal.
