Default Cell Phone Insurance

Do any of you buy insurance on your cell phones when you get a new one? My contract is up and Im thinking about a galaxy 3. Its an expensive phone so is it a good idea to get insurance on it? Im usually careful with them and I get cases to protect every phone I end up with it. What says the experts on HA? Good idea or waste of money?

It costs less to replace if you lose it. $125 versus $600.

When have you ever lost a phone? If you ever lost one, go for insurance. Otherwise, keep your old phone for a spare and if you lose yours, hope your plan's replacement/upgrade time comes soon.

If you buy with some credit cards (Amex?) they will guarantee it against theft.

I lost an iPhone 3 years ago. It was on my spoiler for between 0-15 miles. I never found it.

My wife will always have it. she's lost a phone and a tablet within the last two months.

Go to Best Buy and buy it through them. You get mail-in rebates up front, and their insurance is better. Sprint wants to charge me $150 "deductible" and I have to wait for the phone to come in.

I broke my Evo 4G LTE a few weeks ago. I went to Best Buy on Sunday. They gave me a loaner phone. On Monday it shipped to Best Buy's "repair center". On Tuesday they e-mailed me that the phone was being shipped back to Best Buy. On Wednesday I picked it up - Brand new phone. I paid $50 deposit for the loaner phone which was refunded.

I think their iPhone policy is different because it's handled by communists Apple.

Get insurance through Best Buy. Cancel it when the phone becomes obsolete and you can get one on Craigslist for cheap.

No...I have my wife's iphone insured through BB. Same coverage as my S2. I paid up front for both and reduced cost on the year as well. The iphone is $3 more a month to insure, but they're the only ones I know of that will cover it.
