my biggest complaint about the advertisement tech article vis posted was they decided to find the most expensive damn video card possible. shopping around (and i maybe wrong since ive been a little out of the loop) ive found nvidia titan/quadro cards that have the same specs for less than half the price



maybe a computer guy like DTN will show up and clear this up for us

 

You people are missing the point by a mile here. You plunk down a pile of cash for a machine that will make your digital magicians work faster = more profitably, and you do it happily.



They deliver it, and it works right out of the box.

If it breaks, there is a warranty and a support agreement.



OR



You can spend half as much on a similarly-powerful DIY machine

Spend a few days researching, building it, installing apps, figuring out why the F it won't get on your network right, replacing a bad component you thought was good, figuring out why one card makes another one slow, etc.

If you aren't in the business of making high performance computers, this will cost you in man-hours most of the difference between the component cost and the cost of the new Mac. Then in 6 months it breaks and YOU have to figure out why, and fix it.



This new Pro is a no-brainer for people who use their computers to make millions of dollars and need every flop they can get, and want to use a Mac. Also note that, for a bleeding-edge-with-a-warranty workstation, $10k is not that much. Start here

My last computer was $30 third-hand and is currently surfing the Internet just fine. I expect if it tried to render anything complicated it would catch fire, or take a few days, or both.
