So, I have a small wine cellar that I'm looking to start to stock up. Can you guys and gals give me some good recomendations for wine? I like both Red and White, and obviously...gotta keep something fruity around for the girl. Let me know whats good and if theres anything in season I should keep my eye on. smile.gif

I am a big fan of Monchhof Rieslings, especially their Estate Riesling.
To date I haven't found a wine I like drinking more than that.
I want to find some Santana DVX.

I try to find the best cheap wine possible! laugh.gif
For reds, I like:
Robert Mondavi - Pinot Noir
Clos du Bois - Merlot - $15 ish
Black Opal - Shiraz (2001 won some award I believe) - $13 for a 1.5 ltr
David Bruce - Pinot Noir (more expensive, but amazing year in 2006). $35-45 I believe, $80 in restaurants.
My wife is struggling to find wine she likes. The sweeter the better.
Asti Spumante (default sparkling for all chicks it seems)
Columbia Winery - Reisling
But, I have a new favorite that my wife and I both like. It's from Moldova, called Black Doctor (Vinaria Bostavan Black Doktor). It's a semi-sweet red, and I love it. It's also in a very neat, fancy bottle (sometimes). Cost around $10-13. It's a cheap wine, but when you have friends over who aren't big wine drinkers, it's cool to say, "I just got this expensive bottle of Russian wine." (Moldova is formerly of USSR I think). I've only found it at one of the 4 liquor stores I go to. Here is the bottle:

If you haven't tried it already I would suggest trying some mead. It's a desert wine with heavy honey overtones. Girls love it and honestly when I don't feel like a regular glass, I enjoy it a lot. I've had a few different varieties but the only name I remember is Chauncher's, which comes with a spice bag that can be used to make a warm tea out of it. It's very unique, I'd look into it.
Also, I lost the article but Esquire had a small spread on box wines, which are coming up in quality a ton. All I remember is that a lot of French wines also sell in a box, and the interior bladder in them is designed so that after you open it, it will retain the same taste for a few months afterward.

If you want a wine for the girl, give Mi Amore Italian Red (2007) a shot. It's sweet, fruity and works as a drink alone wine. Also, if you can fins some South African wine's, give those a shot. They're cheaper and will give the high end Italians and California's a good run for their money.
