Default Tofu - Any vegetarians on board?

Anyone here eat it? I'm a vegetarian and love it. I always try to look up fun recipes involving it and trying new things. smile.gif

It can be really good, but it can also be one of the worst things ever. Not a huge fan, but I do enjoy it in most Indian dishes i've tried it in. Also used to beer batter it and fry it at an old restaurant I worked in. Served it with stir fried vegetables and miso sauce. Also pretty damn good.

I am in no way vegetarian but I have nothing against tofu. For me though, it's an occasional and/or filler material. You will never find me eating a dish comprised primarily of tofu, but it adds needed substance to soups well, and it goes into some dishes nicely.

Think of it like a potato, only taking less time to cook. You really can't mess it up. It's sort of a food sponge. Just absorbs it's sorrounding flavors and blends into the whole dish.

nice. i agree with you floyd about it not being a meat substitute but rather a different food group. same wtih veggie burgers. i LOVE veggie burgers, not as a substitute for a real burger but as a completely different type of thing to eat.

For a closer to real meat substitute, try Satan (say-tan). It takes on the color and texture of ground beef and makes a pretty kick ass chili!
