It's all puff. As potent as the ghost chili is, the burn doesn't last very long at all and can be made tolerable based on the age of the pepper and conditions of the plant. The german market in town here makes ghost chili bologna, it's very sweet with an intense but brief burn that is the result of cultivating the peppers as different stages of development. A raw chili is actually very delicious, the skin of the pepper is sweet and almost tangy, but unlike most peppers actually contains a fair amount of the capsaicin depending on age. I use locally grown GPs in a lot of my cooking and make a mean sausage from raw peppers, bacon and pork spices. I'd take the challenge in a heartbeat.
