Default Steak lovers, Rare, medium, or well-done?

Beef Steak lovers, how do you like your steak cooked and why do you like it that way?

I think if you like it well-done, you can disqualify yourself from being a steak lover.

Medium to Medium-Rare. A quality steak should be medium rare... but a purple/dark red color is too rare for me.

If I'm at a good steakhouse, I'll order it Medium Rare expecting it to be perfect.

If I'm at a less than nice restaurant, I'll order it medium to avoid it being cold and having to send it back.

Outback Steakhouse or nicer - medium rare

Logan's Roadhouse or less - medium

one of the best "cheap" steaks I've ever had was at Texas Roadhouse in Fort Wayne, IN. Their cuts and cook was PERFECT. So much that I spent 3 of my 4 days eating dinner at that restaurant. By cheap I mean a filet mignon meal under $20

I like it that way because of the tenderness of the steak, the juices, and the flavor it has. I want to taste the meat, not the sauce, toppings, salt, butter, or charred edges. A well-done steak cannot melt and dissolve in your mouth the way I like it.

My favorite steak comes from Stoney River. http://www.stoneyriver.com/

I like it at least medium-well because then you don't get sick from the blood-borne pathogens meat from industrialized farms & un-inspected slaughterhouses. As the french would say, "bien-bien fait" but not "bien-bien fait comme Americain"

Give it to me rare/med-rare! If you're afraid of a little beef blood, eat jerky! Pointless to spend all that money on a good steak if you're just going to have it cooked to death so all the juice and flavor is gone.

The location in Fort Wayne, IN was UNBELIEVABLE. I came back to Nashville, found one here, and was disappointed... twice. Maybe my expectations were too high, but driving 35 minutes out of my way wasn't worth it.

And after having a few Bison steaks at Ted's I have yet to find another piece of red meat that filled the void. It seriously leaves me craving to this very moment.
