Default Indian food is stinky?

My friend and I decided to dine at an Indian place for lunch, but before we were able to order he quietly whispered to me about the smell, and about how he was going to . So, of course, we decided to eat somewhere else.

But really? Does Indian food really stink? I think the aromas are strong, but its not horrible.

Nope. It's a VERY aromatic food, but it's great smells, such as curry, cumin, garam masala, and others. My wife has made chicken tikki masala a number of times and it's absolutely fantastic, even as leftovers a week later. Just had some indian food last night, and again, very aromatic and VERY flavorful, but stinky? No way. Sounds like you hit a bad spot.

Different people like the smell of different things. I for one LOVE Indian food (taste and smell). I make it at home. Lamb w/Tikki Masala served over Basmati rice is one of my favorites. And any kind of meat in a Rogan Josh sauce is amazing. Served with hot Nan bread! UMMMMMMM!

If it's good Indian food, it's a smell (and taste) that can't be beat! Go with a different friend next time....

I can't stand Indian food or the smell either. Not sure why. I have friends who love it and rave about it! Its definitely not for me.
