A disease is spreading through a bunch of countries that could wipe them out completely. I personally love them so I hope they can figure this out. Even if they are not wiped out completely, they could dwindle a lot which would make prices go through the roof.

I would care only from a scientific, biodiversity perspective. I don't eat bananas. Too much potassium for my transplanted kidney.

I like bananas. I think they'll just switch to a different species (or gm the Cavendish) for mass production. Diseases can spread easily through clone populations unfortunately.
