What does it taste like? I've had everclear before and 151. Is it like that or different? Can you drink it straight or do you have to mix it with something? Just curious because I hear a lot about it but know nothing of it.

 

Yeah, I have. You would have to define "pure moonshine", what I consider to be pure moonshine is very high alcohol content, approaching 200 proof. Taste wise that's more like everclear, it just tastes like ethanol mostly.



A lot of people that make moonshine it's just used as a base for making a flavored liquor of desired strength. Apple pie, cherry vanilla, lots of other combos. The taste of unflavored moonshine varies a lot depending on how it is made and what it is made from. A lot of what I've had was corn based, and had a similar base flavor to a rum, kind of a hint of corn syrup sweetness.

 

in the past 2 years i've had stright moonsine, 2 different versions of the apple pie and 1 of some peach mix.



the pure stuff might as well have been everclear- hot alcohol and undrinkable



both apple pie versions were really tame yet pleasant-... one reminded me of a cyser



the peach tasted like the pure but w a hint of peach- nearly undrinkable



overall synopsis-... mo longer interested in moonshine

 

We had a still in High School. Use to double distill our brews. Made it out of onions once. When it hits near 200 proof there isn't much at all but straight ethanol.

 

Warm and fuzzy.....lol.

I'm assuming you mean white lightning. That is backyard everclear. And a heluva drug



I have a regular provider of bourbon county bathtub goodness. No clue the proof but it kicks harder than anything else I have in the cabinet.
