Well, for some of you, I guess mistakes happen and you scrape a curb.

This will sound a little harsh but I mean come on, if you are a good driver you will not have this problem.
cars are not meant to be hitting curbs wink1.gif

but yes, sh!t happens to the best of us.

If you drive with the mentality of thinking your rims are worth $50,000 dollars, .... you will never hit a
curb again!!

there is a difference between a good driver and a careful one. I personally consider myself a decent driver. I am an ex-rally driver, I used to be a professional truck driver with way over a million miles behind the wheel.. and only one accident (when somebody hit me when I was stopped) but I do occasionally nudge a kerb. Usually it happens at night when visibility is not that great.. and it always happens on the passengerside where you can never be totally sure where the kerb is.

So really, let's not be judgemental about kerb rash being a sign of a bad driver, accidents happen.. it is a fact of life.

I'm very careful with my car but scratches and dings are an unavoidable fact of life. When I had my car's new wheels rotated and balanced recently, one of the workers accidently dinged one of my wheels mad.gif Just goes to show that no matter how carefull you are, accidents happen.

When you're parallel parking every day it's only a matter of time. The streets I have to park on are narrow and one way, and the curbs are several hundred year old chunks of carved granite. That means they jut out at all kinds of angles. So it happens. I usually only rub my tires though.

What's worse is when I park on a slanted section of street and open my door, only to have the bottom edge scrape against the sidewalk. Tha's happened a few times and now I'm extremely cautious when getting out of the car. I squeeze out with the door barely open, I'm sure I get strange looks. tongue.gif

I've had my aftermarket wheels for about 3.5 years now. It's was on my previous (first) car and recently now it's on the tib for about 3 months now.

Yeah, It had its share of scrapes and dings on the first car... but the funny thing is i've never got it scraped on the tib ever since i put them on it. I guess i like the tib so much that Im really careful wit it.

Yeah, 02.gif I've done it, but I didn't inhale.

I hit my front passenger side pretty bad. Too bad that wasn't the rim I ruined and need to replace.

Not buff out if you polish them but........

I've had LOTS of practice parallel parking and just plain curb parking living in Seattle. EX: parallel parking on a 20% grade upslope and pulling out in a manual without hitting either the car 1.5inches in front of you or the one .7inches behind you, lol.

BUT, like an idiot I let my friend drive and he was at the drive thru w/ me in the pass. seat and as we pull from the speaker to the window to pay I hear a "krrrrrrrr" for about 2 seconds as he pulls away at less than 1mph. He didn't even notice until I grabbed the freakin steering wheel and pulled it away from the curb. We got out and looked at the damage and there is a very light scrape all the way around the outer edge of the rim. Actually there's still about an inch of virgin rim but the rest was raped by that curb.

....he ended up paying for the food and filling my tank, POS! lol.

An even more annoying annoyance for me is idiot shopping cart users at the grocery store I work at. I park away from all the cars and I still get dings every other day. I swear there's 20 or so teeny dings in my car from workign there over the past year. My car's in the shop now getting bodywork done and painted and when I start driving her to work after she's painted I'm gonna set up a fence or something around my car when I'm working for extra protection. ..or somethin, I dunno. Maybe I'll just park across the street. Shopping Cart dings suck, because there's nothing you can do for revenge! It cold have been anyone, and it's such a snall petty ding that people look at you weird when you freak out about them. I'm not crazy goddamit!

but yeah, just be aware of curbs, know they're there and respect them. lol, and stick your head otu the window when parking or something just to be safe.
