Been searching for those blue door light covers for the last few months and finally decided.....
Frick it!!!! I'll make my own!!!! Tired off waiting for someone to sell theirs!! In the next 2 to 3 weeks I'm going to get a mold made and try to produce some either colored, or maybe even clear, door light covers. I'll post how it goes. Whether it's a success or blinding failure. fing02.gif |
They were a short product run from some company in Australia, one of which I wouldn't work with again because it took SO LONG and they demanded we use a member down there to ship them. That went downhill fast.
As for colors, I HIGHLY recommend you do clear, and replace the bulb behind with whatever color you want. |
Let me know, I'm looking to get these made too. If everything works out okay.
I'll look into it as well. |
RED ZMAN - I was thinking that the clear would be better too, then one could put whatever color light that they would want into the car. Plus the clear seems that it would be easier to make anyway.
EMG - I'll probably try to get a start on it next Sunday evening. Going up to Edmonton on Saturday to the Industrial bar. (None in Red Deer) And spend most of Sunday afternoon recovering. But like I said, I'll keep the site posted on the progress. |

nos4atu - I found a company called Empire Prototype in MA willing to do the copy. I'm gonna send my pieces to get a estimate. If it's not too bad maybe I can see if I can get some bulk made for any RDT members who would like to get them as well. But definitely let me know what you come up with.
Although I am thinking about getting blue. I may get both for certain days I want to change the colors in the car Idk lol. And Regit's look damn good from a box of scraps basically. I may go that route if this is all too expensive. Also, I found on my passenger's door light I thought the socket was broken off. I found it wedged up in the door with a broken bulb. After an hour and some needle-nose plyers got it out. --------------- For the admin: I looked at your bulb chart and couldn't find the bulb number for the door. I found it was a 194. If it wasn't mentioned somewhere here already. Could you add it to the chart? |
Trust me, don't get the blue lenses my man, get the clear ones then you can change bulbs to whatever color you want.
|
i smoked my clear lenses i bought and put blue leds behind. looks nice.
|
Yeah, clear will probably be cheaper anyway. The smoked lenses idea sounds cool too.
|
Hell yeah, let me know what you find out and if they are willing to do a mass order as, I'm sure, the majority of members on this site would probably be interested in lenses. I know I am. And, if the price is fair.........
