the cop might not show, but if he does like mine did (dumb*ck couldn't even read his own handwriting and couldn't present himself, plus he showed up late and he wasn't there just because of me) i just explained myself and because i have a clean record he let me go with a $12 court fee.
as Rixshark mentioned, definitely dress up top.

wow... a whole entire year for your court date! that's the beauty of the Canadian Justice System sigh.gif
anyways, a $130 fine is something that the cops don't really bother... you'll be fine 'tol, the guy will not show up, it is not worth his time

for the past 4 or 5 weeks it's been suit and tie for me as I've been going to various job interviews, so it certainly won't be a problem to wear it one more time wink1.gif That would actually be the best scenario: cop doesn't show up!
Come Friday, you bet I'll keep you guys posted. fing02.gif

the f*****g cop was there!!!! I had forgotten what he looked like, until today. Moron dressed in a suit with snow boots, looked like a clown.
Anyway, the prosecutor told me that there is no such thing as a 365 rule. So, I pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. I got an $85 fine instead of $130, plus no demerit points will be taken away (I was really happy about that). So that was the outcome. There was a guy there, around 25, who was fighting 2 tickets: 1. drunk driving, and 2. going at 100km/h on a 60km/h zone. The prosecutor was giving him a hard time; she didn't wanna give him a "lesser fine". I didn't wanna be in his shoes, that's for sure. His insurance is going to sky-rocket.

I live downtown Toronto, and I got the ticket at the intersection of Bloor and Dundas, North of Roncevalles.
They get paid overtime to show up for court? Actually, makes sense. They obviously wanna entice him to go to court because 2 or 3 hours worth of pay that he's going to get extra, is more than justified by the loss of income from the high number of defendants who would have otherwise had their tickets nulled (more loss to the city). Today, alone, there must've been 40 or 50 people.

^hah, thats where all the polish people live.
Well, at least you got a reduction and no points, that's better than having not done anything about it and just taken the original fine.

Right. The Polish area is just slightly south of where I got the ticket.
Exactly, TibbyChick! Better that I got it reduced instaed of not doing anything. Actually, that's my advice to everyone here: fight your tickets!! If you pay it off once you're given a ticket, your insurance will know about it, and you're officially saying, "Yes! I am guilty!". At least if you go to court, there's always the possibility of getting no demerit points, which will save your record and possibly a few hundred (or thousand) dollars in insurance, over the next few years.

Keep in mind the insurance companies generally don't care whether any demerit points were given with a ticket or not. They keep track of them all and your rates could go up regardless. They also keep the tickets on your record longer than the Ministry of Transportation does.

Yes insurance companies have record of your OLD tickets but they cant use that against you BUT only within 3 years ..
Also just because you go to court and they lesser your fine your insurance will still incraese. For example if you get caught speeding and you get charged for 3 points and $200 fine and they were to drop it to $100 and NO POINTS your insurance will still incraese ............Even it went down to $1 you still get nailed on increase...
In an insurance companys EYE you convicted of a minor offence.
FURY..
Best thing to do when going to court is to be present 30 minutes before and locate the officer by his badge number and try to talk to him.
Another thing to do is when entering into the court room to say your HERE, plead NOT Guilty....they try to convince you for a lesser charge but be firm on what i said NOT GUILTY...Then when its time they call you up at the stand make sure you see f the officer is present and IF he is you can then plead guilty with Explination...If not then NOt guilty.
I can keep going on with some good things to say to get completely off BUT this is not the right place to say it nana.gif
