You can file a police report, but that is as far as it will go. The police don't give a shit, and they know there is no way to catch the guy. I envision every cop behind the scenes to be like the cops in Superbad. My ex-girlfriend's best friend's car was stolen from a party, as in her purse that was with her at the party was stolen with her car keys and her car outside of the party stolen as a result of the car keys in the purse. She filed a police report, and the cops did jack shit. And this is grand theft auto.

Two months later she gets a call from the cops. They "found" her car. It was now winter, and her car was abandoned on a city street and the snow plows called to have it towed for blocking the street (that's what happens if you park your car at night in the street in the city - a-holes make some money by impounding your car.) When they ran the plates it came up stolen. When she asked how the cops found it the guy looks at her like she is stupid and says, "you reported it stolen and we looked for it." Bullshit. God I hate cops. They "found" it cuz it was in the way of the snowplow.

 

a guy i know got his civic jacked a few weeks ago. he woke up to them doing it and took out his samurai sword. he chased them in his car, they rammed his door off and tried ramming him off the road and when the stop they beat the piss out of him with tire irons. it was 4 against 1, not the brightest idea this dude had. but all those guys got arrested, apparently they jacked 4 other civic's that night.

that's why i want to get a handgun, in wisconsin as long as they're breaking and entering, you can shot and kill them. but they have to die on your property or you're f***ed.
